Preview:
At a time when our nation feels more divided than ever, a poll conducted by The Chronicle of Higher Education and Langer Research Associates reveals an unexpected point of agreement: people on both sides of the political spectrum believe higher education can do more to create a well-informed citizenry. This survey of 1,025 adults showed that only 31% of respondents feel that colleges and universities are doing a great or very good job at this crucial task. What’s more, when broken down, only 24% of conservatives and 40% of liberals feel we are succeeding in this area.
